Yes, I couldn't find any amiibo complaints topic so I decided to make one.

I watched a podcast last night and it talked about this, how deliberately locking content behind gimmicky toys, toys that you may not even find is detrimental to the industry in the long run..

I wouldn't say entitled by virtue of paying for the game. But I'd say it should be unlockable through playing and participating in the game modes and features included.

So, finish a level on a certain difficulty, get all secrets, or use certain online modes to unlock game content.

The game industry would appear to answer your topic title with a resounding "No."

En un mundo perfecto, eso definitivamente importaria.

Good thing amiibos are just stupid toys with NFC tags. Just saying.

If it's content already coded into the game, I think that at the very least, I'm entitled to a reliable way to either access/unlock/or purchase said content.

The worst thing about whole Amiibo thing is essentially having to compete to even have the opportunity for said content. If something gained through Amiibo was either unlockable in-game or DLC, I'd at least have a way to guarantee that I could get said content. Tying it to products known for scarcity upon release isn't good at all.

I wouldn't mind paying for DLC instead of useless toys.

But you didn't paid for the full game. The full game price includes the DLC price.
:/

that's the mentality they want you to have. it's so sad to even "settle" for this. oh how far and deep the industry has fallen.

i wonder where we would be now if mobile gaming wasn't such a huge hit.

Look at it this way -
You buy a dresser for full price
The dresser has 4 drawers
One of them is locked and can't be opened without using a key or breaking the lock (that would damage the dresser)
You need to pay 50% of the price of the dresser just to open the fourth drawer

You will not buy this dresser, why will you buy this game?
