It will definitely sell more units then the Xbox One but I honestly do not think it will outsell the ps4 this year(then again we never know). They should have ported ultra sun/moon to the switch. That would increase sales significantly.

It's pretty much impossible to sell 60 mio units in half a year, but in the long run, the Switch has the potential to catch up, the hype is still real and the lineup of exclusives is insane this year. I hope Nintendo can maintain this over 2018 and beyond as well!

It's already selling worse, and the only time a Nintendo console has outsold PlayStation was with Wii. PlayStation is simply a lot more popular worldwide, Nintendo just doesn't have that potential. For a lot of reasons, part of it is lack of 3rd party support. People that want Nintendo games will get a Switch, people who want everything else choose between PS and Xbox, and this gen they're choosing PS4 primarily. PS4 has already outsold the 3DS I believe, and there's no chance of Switch doing 3DS numbers either (again for multiple reasons, price is a major one).

Are you talking about Nintendo selling more Switches than Sony sells PS4s in the 2017 calendar year or are you talking about Nintendo selling more Switches than Sony's total lifetime PS4 sales in 2017? I think you are talking about the former scenario, but there seems to be some confusion in the responses. Either way, I think both scenarios are unlikely.

Remember if we are talking first year 18 mil is the number to beat in PS4 first year and 9 mil for xbox one. Nintendo has until next march to hit those numbers. We will see by march if switch is even up for the task and how well it's doing compared to the other consoles.
If we are talking this year PS4 is already at 7 mil by end of june that's 1.16 mil average per month this year alone. Last year PS4 sold 6 mil in nov-dec alone. So we'll what switch holiday bump will be like. That said a lot of people are dismissing arms not selling well. Lets wait a few months and see especially after holidays. A lot of people dismiss sony exclusives all the time when they sell 130-140k NPD (arms sold 250 k by the way) and they end up selling multi million in the end. Nintendo is one of those companies were games do have long legs on average.

What was wrong with my post? BotW blew every other game away in reviews and acclaim so far this year, and Odyssey easily took E3 like BotW did last year with insanely positive reception.

The tricky thing is this is a hard comment to make since Nintendo is sending so few. People feel xb1 is selling poorly, but if MS would've shipped as little stock as Nintendo is, the same thing would've happened. People would be saying its massively successful, and how it would easily outsell ps4 if they had more stock.
Nintendo is only expecting 12m or so to ship from launch to end of mar2018. Ps4 has been shipping 16-20m a year, so Nintendo would have to manufacture the 18m+ they were rumored to produce and pretty much sell all of it, to have a chance.finally a new .Hack game! its been too long old friend.- Boards
