They did everything right, except the biggest most important think.
Make sure they had enough of the damn things to sell. Splatoon 2 just launched and I can not find a Switch for my wife for nothing. Been looking for last 2 weeks. How is Nintendo suppose to beat Wii, or heck even match PS4, numbers, when they are producing and selling less consoles than the XB1? |

Hasn't Switch specifically beaten XB1 in every month? I'm pretty sure that's true.

Every US Nintendo ever (sans virtual boy)... Xboxes and Playstations too, except, well the Playstations constantly broke, so I stopped buying them.

You just gotta keep checking. It was like that for PS4 when it launched (although the drought didn't last quite as long) and it's like this right now for PC graphics cards too. Sign up for email alerts and go to that nowinstock website. They are being stocked more often recently, I noticed, nowhere near as bad as the NES classic.
Also look on Kijiji or a local buy and sell group. In my area, someone was selling it for ~$450 Canadian dollars, which is exactly the same you would pay for retail + HST here. Nintendo was not expecting this sort of popularity, not after just dealing with the Wii U. So they have not been able to produce enough units for demand and still can't due to component shortages. I do think though that if Nintendo felt Switch were to be a runaway success a good year or two prior, they may not have had these problems they now face, because they have to buy the components and allocation of factory time those components will be made. As it is right now, Apple has the bigger portion along with a few others, but at the time Nintendo was buying up components and factory time, these other companies may not have done their own purchases.

Nintendo was jump coming out of the Wii U slump. They undercut the starting Switch sales because they didn't think the Switch would print money again like the Wii did.
If you don't expect to sell 8m units in a year, you don't make 8m units in a year. That is just money sitting around being wasted on a shelf until the unit sells.

Like in the beginning it was a discussion and then it became annoying. Seeing this topic for the millionth time. You know what bothers me the most is that when I go to shops then they are every where in stock so I sometimes wonder if people just troll this topic because it use to be a problem. Like people make this kind of topic just to complain for the sake of complaining regardless whether TC really owns a Switch or not or really wants to get one or not. However if you tell people like TC that you are tired of their crap then they are like "typical Nintendo fanboys. You bring up a real issue and they just shoot it down." edit: You know what I am just going to put him on my ignore list. Maybe if I put all these people on my ignore list then maybe the stupid repetitive topics will stop.
I love my Vita and my 3DS. I wish everyone can just play nicely and stop with the console wars :P

There's no problem. Nintendo is selling out AKA selling 100% of what they want.
They do sell fast so need to track who gets what and when. I didn't pre-order and it took a month to find one. Reserved one that took two months to arrive. |

Got my switch two days ago. You have to call around and stay on top of retailers. The system is selling out as demand far outpaces supply.

Wrong. You Nintendo fanboys really are blind when it comes to hype. You're only seeing each others' hype and thinking everyone is hyped. But they're not. Super Mario Odyssey is the first time Nintendo has experienced hype outside of Nintendo circlejerks in a very long time. BotW is the worst case of this hype blindness. It's already forgotten by the general public and people ignored Nintendo at E3 2016 because they saw it was the only game they had. And even here on GameFAQs, we have "Weapon durability is a massive detriment!" "Nuh uh! Weapon durability makes the game better, you stupid Sony pony!" Nintendo underproduced Switch because they know the hype would die down real fast if they made enough. Production will go up but sales numbers will go down leading up to October.

Doesn't Odyssey come out in October? If anything I see the drought and sales decrease come 2018. They've got barely anything, aside from a tentative Metroid Prime 4 release at the end of 2018 and even that may not happen. Who knows what else will be announced. We'll have to wait, but atm I think the drought will be coming either after Odyessey or at best come January '18

Next two month (ausgust and september) are pretty much dead months. you should be able to find one. in October there is now way you will find one because of mario and i dout you will find one during novemeber and decemeber.
but i had many chance of buying one, unlike the nes classic and some amiibo.
