I would rather a full on remake with tons of new stuff. I see no reason for a Sunshine sequel to be honest. Such a gem of a game. the plot and concept is one and done unless it becomes a spinoff with some multiplayer focus.
Today is the day: Bomberman, Paper Mario, K.Rool, Wonder Red, and Goku for Smash.

That game was dope tbh. Had a more interesting hub than the limited type you got in the more recent galaxy games. Water based gameplay seemed less fucking weird than possessing tanks and dinosaurs and idk it was a beautiful game for its time. Tropical themes and water physics would only be better now.

Admittedly i guess i would be ok with anything with more water manipulation within tropical themes. Wouldnt necessarily have to be a full blown sequel but i would buy that.

The jetpack could be done more tastefully it's true.
I dont know i saw a picture of the game recently on facebook which made me nostalgic hence the defense of the game here.

I heard Sunshine music today in a mainstream video on facebook. Would love to play the game again, a remake/sequel would be even better.

I think a sequel with replacements for the hover and rocket nozzles could be fun
Those two are kinda just counter-intuitive in a platformer. The regular nozzle works well as a weapon and the turbo nozzle is lots of fun with well designed (albeit few) levels for it The hover and rocket nozzles are basically just there for skipping stuff though. Hover as a replacement for long jumping really sucks. It's not a jump that you're committing to, it's a get out of jail free card that lets you correct all your mistakes. It's not as fun either. Rocket is the same way, it's not as fun as jumping around to get somewhere, they really don't use it much either |

Agreed but....
Mario and Peach go on vacation in Sunshine but do they really??? What if Odyssey is the prequel to Sunshine as Peach and Bowser got married to give a solid home to their child Bowser Jr. They both head to Isle Delfino at the exact same time and spend so much time together there because its there honeymoon. So instead of Sunshine sequel were actually getting a Sunshine prequel.

Super Mario Sunshine is not only my favorite Mario game ever, it's my favorite game ever
I seriously have lost faith in humanity due to the fact that so many people hate this game. Do you just dislike creativity and immersiveness? Do you want every Mario game to be endless levels of obstacle courses? That being said, Super Mario Odyssey is fine as the main Mario Switch release long as it follows a similar gameplay structure to Sunshine (which Nintendo claims it does) I would like to see a remake or sequel to Sunshine always, but knowing Miyamoto, it won't ever happen.

Because Sunshine is an incredible game and deserves praise? The hatred towards Sunshine is probably the reason why Mario went incredibly dormant in terms of creativity starting in 2006 (with the Galaxy games being the only exceptions) It's 2017 and we are just finally getting another ambitious huge sandbox Mario, it's been a while.
