It used to be alright, when it was purely cosmetic content and little things locked behind Amiibo (Mario Kart costumes for the Mii racer, trainable fighters in Smash Bros) but now with Nintendo locking entire difficulty modes behind them, this is only going to get worse and worse unless people stop supporting it.
Thank God for Jim!

no amiibo has been officially discontinued
so its more terms of scalpers fault for buying out item they have no intent on using just to sell it for 2~10x its price and what you pay for is a figurine to display the content is a bonus as most amiibo content is made so it works with more then one game only a handful of amiibo wont work with more then one game.... just like asking why do people support nintendo when they are clearly not supplying demand then they cut off supply with stuff that still has demand like nes classic

The only positive I can see is it makes Nintendo easy money which they hopefully pour into developing passion projects that aren't guaranteed blockbusters.

On top of that if all NFC was utilized to have cards then you would have better means of DLC because of the fact that they all have multiple uses, they are not tied to just one account or system.

This is a fair point, though there is a key difference between Plus and Gold (and Nintendo's paid Switch online service) and amiibo; availability. Plus and Gold will always be available to anyone, as long as Sony and MS are supporting these services. Amiibo availability has been spotty, at best.

As others have also said, I like amiibo's for collectable purposes. 9 times out of 10 they lock only cosmetic features behind them. This one instance we get a difficulty mode locked behind one. Making people pay for a yearly subscription to access half or more of the content behind many games is much worse. Sony and Microsoft keep raising the price for their services without increasing the value of it. We don't know exactly what Nintendo's service will or won't provide, but we do know it's much cheaper.
As I said they are all a rip off, but to all amiibo's "a disease" doesn't apply to those who like to own collectables.Nintendo Switch + PS4 Pro + New 3DS(edited 1 day ago)quoteBaha05 posted...LuigiFan835 posted...

I wouldn't had problem with them if there was an optional way to obtain the on-disk locked content e.g. via dlc packs. True both plus and gold locking multi-player behind a pay wall when you can do so for free on pc, are shitty practices. It all started with Gold and then Sony jumped in with Plus and the ps4 and now Nintendo is joining in with their own service. Anyways the thing is that these services are available to you readily. Like I can purchase them from the respective digital stores. I don't need to hunt down a fucking piece of plastic to do so. When I took a trip to Japan, they had 2 entire stores full of figurines of all sizes for all types characters (bagged a Jack Frost and Crazy Diamond figurine), and they had amiibos there also. They were, without question, of much worse quality than the corresponding figurine sold elsewhere in the store. There was a Toon Link amiibo there, the Toon Link figurine looked a million times better. The Samus one was fantastic, and made the amiibo look like a cheap piece of shit. No I didn't. That doesn't magically make amiibos look better though, they still pale in comparison to actual figurines. Even Nintendo World in New York City has better figurines like a Lucina one, and they probably are the most interested in selling amiibos than most other stores. Yet they still share the basic formula of content existing because the figures exist.Regardless of the size of what the product offers the fact remains is that these figures exists for the sake of the content, if you go digital you run into some issues at this point.
And Cybers example of a game utilizing NFC and Digital content isn't out yet, the pricing isn't even set. I also suspect the real reason you didn't bother to look up your "points" in the old threads was because they were nonexistent so you decided to give me a half-assed response and justify you defending the Splatoon 2 online appI wish you the best Username2016, I truly do, but you will never get Baha to admit he is wrong. He is trolling you and will continue to lie.PSN: RushDawg

And yet you are going to take another claim simply using a few posts that don't even target other topics? And no I don't have the time nor the effort to go find old shit. More so when I can explain my points right here.
And justifying the app? Do you even know what my full stance on the app is? Or are you going to simply assume points made by other people and not from the person who knows their own opinion?"He may be Mr. Clean, but his soul will always be dirty!"Baha05 posted...Username2016 posted...
Because Amiibos are optional and only offer small minor content keyword: small and minor content, I even used a synonym so you can understand better. Toys To Life figurines are literally meant to be required for the game whether you like it or not. However, the PC version of Disney Infinity allows you to buy characters digitally.
Except the fact that Cyber gave mention of game that has digital Amiibo content? Do you not like options for the consumer?
Yet they still share the basic formula of content existing because the figures exist.Regardless of the size of what the product offers the fact remains is that these figures exists for the sake of the content, if you go digital you run into some issues at this point.
And Cybers example of a game utilizing NFC and Digital content isn't out yet, the pricing isn't even set. And i'm all for options but I think that when it comes to the older material and content you run into faults and problems that are better solved with NFC Cards versus trying to create digital NFC copies of figures.
And cyber see when you post sit like that it really doesn't give me the impression that you want a discussion or can even properly criticize.
You do realize that there is a clear digital market right? Many people would just want the digital Amiibo content.
@Cyber_Akuma_Zero you're right I might just plain stop responding this is getting tiresomeUsername2016 posted...You do realize that there is a clear digital market right? Many people would just want the digital Amiibo content.
Yes there is a clear digital market, that's been known. However there are issues that people take when it comes to content and pricing on those markets which is why I'd question any of the older NFC figures to be converted to a digital format. Because the question becomes how do you price out the content or how do you make the concept of an NFC figure still retail most of the values that exist in it's physical form?"He may be Mr. Clean, but his soul will always be dirty!"Baha05 posted...Username2016 posted...

Points made by other people?
Those same people pulled up a thread about you saying/defending your opinion on it. But keep trolling Baha05 or should I say, Stone Deaf.Username2016 posted...Points made by other people?

Yes those points that want to ignore critical details about my stance or opinions on matters"He may be Mr. Clean, but his soul will always be dirty!"LOL @ Baha
CyberAkumaZero totally just dunked on him by exposing him for the Stone Deaf troll that he is and all he can say is "you can't properly criticize". Are you kidding me? He just perfectly criticized Baha's trolling style in a single post. Cyber's criticisms are bang on.
Baha is such a dishonest liar. He is taking everyone out of context now. What a troll!PSN: RushDawg

Yeah, that's the same question from the previous thread in which I already answered.Username2016 posted...Yeah, that's the same question from the previous thread in which I already answered.
And what was your answer again?"He may be Mr. Clean, but his soul will always be dirty!"In the case of Samus Returns, you don't need to make a freaking "digital NFC figure". You can just sell Fusion Mode as separate DLC. Easy peasy.PSN: RushDawg
NNID: TheRushDawgI have never bought one, I have the Zelda TP and a animals crossing ones still in package as they were free and I'll never use them. They look cool but I can't bring myself to buy one.XBL: chex81 || NNID: phasma81hellzyaaahhhhhh posted...no amiibo has been officially discontinued
so its more terms of scalpers fault for buying out item they have no intent on using just to sell it for 2~10x its price
and what you pay for is a figurine to display the content is a bonus
as most amiibo content is made so it works with more then one game only a handful of amiibo wont work with more then one game....
just like asking why do people support nintendo when they are clearly not supplying demand then they cut off supply with stuff that still has demand like nes classic
Has nothing to do with scalpers. Nintendo is putting basic stuff like a higher difficulty behind a dlc paywall.Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.- Boards
- Nintendo Switch
- How can anybody defend this Amiibo shit anymore?
