I mean, you've got things like Mammy Two Shoes from Tom and Jerry that are just kinda super fucked up, but then there are harmless characters like Speedy Gonzalez that the people he's representing actually generally like. People like getting representation at all, even if it is stereotypical, because showing off any part of your culture to other cultures is cool and certainly much better than just being ignored. It's something that I think Americans (which I am), particularly youngish white ones (which I also am, no offense intended here) trying to do right by others by taking away extremely stereotypical portrayals of them without realizing that when you take away the sombreros, you've taken away like 80% of all Mexican portrayals in non-Mexican-made media. Young white folks don't think about the consequences of removing "offensive" portrayals because if you take away a portrayal of a white person from a movie or show or game or whathaveyou, the cast is still going to be 95% white. It's coming from a good place, but it is misguided and insular.

I agree about the sexual content. It's an absolute pain that with such a limited amount of time to explore such a massive cast of characters they opt to show Pod with a prostitute or the worst romance in media history...Greyworm and Missandei, but added rape? Are you referring to Sansa? If so, yeah. However there is a lot less rape and sexual violence compared to the books.

While Syla is technically correct in that there are statistics that shows that things aren't nearly as bad as they may at first appear to be, let's be fair to Maverick here, there's a reason why things appear to be pretty bad. As the song lyric goes, "350 channels of nothing but bad news on" It's kinda hard not to think that things are the absolute worst when that's pretty much all you see without doing lots of digging on your own. Not to mention previous generations going on about the "good ol' days". When things appear to suck today while others talk about how great yesterday was, can you really blame anyone for starting to believe that maybe things really were better back in the day than they are now? I at least kinda can't.
Not to mention that some of the problems that do exist today like the tensions with Russia and North Korea? They may not be as bad as they are made out to be, and certainly not as bad as some the things that we've been through in the past... But they're still pretty scary. These are still some scary times. At least they certainly appear to be...
