Nintendo's advertising is on point

  1. Boards
  2. Nintendo Switch
  3. Nintendo's advertising is on point.

This is the best Nintendo commercial in ages. It isn't cringe worthy like just about every Wii, Wii U, or Gamecube commercial.

A bunch of disgusting hipsters sitting around playing Splatoon while a shit song plays. Really great commercial.

Thats how advertising works. Notice how companies like Apple do the same and it sells. People like simple relatable people in their adds with popular music.

No point in trying to teach advistering or online marketing 101 to people here on GameFAQs, you're only wasting your time.

So a bunch of kids would be better? Another "you're a kid now, you're a squid now" commercial perhaps?

Oh, so you want the elderly now? Families with parents + their kids? One of the things this particular commercial did was demonstrate the LAN option, and using your "everyday people" likely would not have gotten that point across. LAN parties have been around much longer than with just millennials.

When I see someone with a phone sticking 3 inches out of their back pocket, they DON'T look like giant d-bags? Even if they're also carrying a spare battery?

Because to me, they look like drug addicts AND giant d-bags.

Just how often do "everyday people" get used to act like "everyday people" in video game commercials? And, just because you think it's a bad display doesn't mean most people think that way too.

They don't have to act the part, just look the part. All this does is reinforce stereotypes and the negative image gamers have of being neckbeards, hobos, and Mad Max rejects.

Nintendo is right to use the hipsters. You dont really want to be showing the actual kind of people who would be going to these tournaments.

Or maybe, put a bunch of kids on there talking smack, people with hygiene issues, folks dressed in MLP outfits, etc, since if we're trying to get "everyday people", we can't be placing limitations on the cast.

Yes, and it's more disgusting than what you see in commercials. You're basically wanting them to throw out one set of stereotypes for another.

And what are you doing then? This is a commercial of a bunch of people getting together and having fun in a large LAN-party setting. Who cares how they dress? Maybe you need to update your view of the world, because not everyone is stuck in the 20th century.

Agreed.
If he really is as obtuse as he seems, there's no point in arguing with him because he'll never understand or acknowledge your points, and if he's just pretending to be thick for the sake of prolonging an argument, well... same thing, really.
