Nintendo Amiibo practices

  3. Nintendo Amiibo practices
YellowThunder 14 hours ago#1
So apparently this needs to be more on topic.

http://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/gaming/834973/Metroid-Prime-Nintendo-Switch-Release-date-Samus-Returns-Amiibo
So I guess it's official now. The energy tank is whatever, I'm a little irked by the artwork, but having a hard mode amiibo locked is ridiculous. This actually makes me want to not buy the Amiibo even though I actually wanted them just for the figures... is nobody worried that this could mean more Amiibo locked modes on the Switch? With them already making hard mode dlc in BotW it really doesn't seem that unlikely. I want to buy the game to support the Metroid franchise and show there is interest for Metroid tiles to be on the Switch but this is seriously irritating.

Here the problem.

Everyone bitches, no one stops buying the Amiibo.

Don't say you pissed and then buy the things anyways, cause your wallet is telling Nintendo your loving these business moves.
DiscostewSM 13 hours ago#6
I haven't bought a single Amiibo.

im buying the Amiibos as collectible, and im kinda addicted to buying them now even if i dont have the game to use them on, and if they are rare i usually buy multiple to sell in the future for profit, i bet in 10 years they will fetch a pretty penny.

I don't mean any offense but if you can afford multiple organ transplants what's the point in reselling a few collectibles?

I think they need to set up a alternative to the Amiibo's.

What if you can't fucking find the Amiibo you want for an affordable price, and then it becomes too
expensive, and its the ONLY WAY you can unlock extra content?

This is what Nintendo needs to do.
Option 1. Buy the amiibo, get the "collect a figure" feeling, and unlock content.
Option 2. Purchase a online unlock DLC, for lesser cost cause making the amiibo costs more,
and getting the same unlocked content.

I mean really.. having to purchase all these figures which I don't care about cause all I want is the
content unlocked, and instead if I did so those figures will all just be collecting DUST.

These and the cards need to be for every Amiibo. I love collecting things for certain franchises, Zelda in particular but I don't want them for Metroid. I'll get some of the custom cards off Etsy like I just did today for Skyward Sword Link, Majora's Mask Link, and Wolf Link (which I already have, but not with 20 hearts) and still get the Samus Returns content, but Nintendo has to realize at some point there is more money in the content being more available in an official manner as well as more money to be made off of happier fans.

Other than this I don't have an issue with Amiibo themselves.

Weird, when Metro decided to lock the best difficulty behind $10 day-one DLC, nobody batted an eye.

When Nintendo does something similar, it's the end of the world. Really makes you think.

the worst thing about amiibo is that you cant find them because they only make 4 of each and scalpers get most of them so the rest of us are fucked.

The other "squidgy" Metroid amiibo will reveal locations of nearby Metroids on the map, as well as a new difficulty mode, "Fusion", after completing the game.

With hard mode being dlc for BotW it could very well be the only hard mode.

I don't see the issue. The only amiibo I have is Wolf link that came free with my copy of Twilight Princess. They are fairly easy to ignore.

Actually everybody on the internet who cared about the game threw a complete shit-fit about Metro's DLC difficulty level. It's just not many people cared about the game, relative to a Nintendo game.

would be the same if you want to pay for full games digital less because making carts cost more, yet is the same price, so no lesser cost, you either pay full or dont get it at all.

Good thing we're talking about the implications the Amiibo practices this Nintendo game might have on games for the Switch.

Nintendo's amino aren't really doing too well in sales, so I don't think people will have to worry for much longer.

Q1-Q3 2016 - 20.5 Million sold

Q1-Q3 2017 - 6.5 Million sold.

That is a really fucking huge drop in sales.

I don't know about sales but I noticed the Walmarts around me don't even have an amiibo section anymore. That's always a bad sign.

i can believe you compare how much does SMASH link, shiek, Zelda, Ganondorf with Daisy and post with a straight face when you know that smash zelda amiibo are best sellers and Daisy is on all shelves with like 20 copies on each store for less than $5 and still dont sell.
