The shortage was a hoax as proven by the massive spike the Switch recieved after Splatoon 2 launched.

It just wasn't selling because there wasn't a game convincing enough people to drop $299 for the system.

It's selling out ( shortage or no) saying it's "not selling" for any reasons makes no sense.

Still over 300$ in the #1 online retailer, so no, Nintendo is still incompetent.

When at any time you can go to ANY storefront, digital or physical and get a Switch if you have the money, thats when the shortage ends.

Well, for one having a decent install base so we can even get games. That's why (I at least) care. Whether there is a shortage or not, if the Switch isn't selling enough to get game developers attention, it will affect "all" Switch owners.

That's why I care. For people that have no interest in the Switch, why are you here? To have a "discussion?".. Sounds like a loophole to bash something anyone dislikes.

That's just me though.

As soon as it's readily available for retail the shortage is over. I caved this week and got the Minecraft bundle online with BotW. At least it was all retail instead of Amazon scalper's price.

It's finally over, the nearby stores here got 100's of them last week, and it's a fairly small rural area.

Maybe in your area. I live in a rural area and my Walmart/ Gamestop (30 minutes away) don't have any. As a previous poster said, it's regional.

The switch is definitely in supply in my areas.

Will it continue to sell Well? Yes, in my opinion. It's worthy of decent sales.

Is it ever going to outsell the Ps4 lifelong. No, that seems unlikely. Ps4 is on ps2 levels of sales.

It'll definitely pass X1 though imo.
uberking422 16 hours ago#22
I still haven't found a standalone system in stores, and until it's being sold at retail price on Amazon I think it's safe to say that they're at least somewhat hard to come by if you don't live in the right place.

There haven't been shortages here at all.

Of our two Gamestop locations, one of them had over a dozen on display Monday, and the second only had supply issues for the first week.

It's going to be very interesting to see how Switch's Q2 sales end up.

It normalized again, back to the $380-390 range, in terms of scalping. It was $420~450 after E3, but that was gonna be a poor time to buy Switch anyways

Btw, even if that is the normalized price, it's still an indicator of a shortage. It's far from over

You mean like this article? Oh wait that says no shortage

You know Samsung makes their own NAND chips why would they suffer from a shortage?

Maybe you saw this article where Samsung is helping Apple.

Or were you talking about this click bait article which was only speculation

Or maybe it was this article about shortages based on demand outpacing supply which has no mention of part shortages

That article doesn't mention anything about Samsung not meeting demand. It does however link to a separate article about Samsung delaying a 4TB PC SSD which happened months before Switch even launched and has nothing to do with their flagship mobile phone

So you're comparing a high end PC item to a mobile phone and Switch when they don't share the same parts.

Do what others are doing: buy BEFORE a game you want is released (only buy if a game you want is announced, though. Don't just buy in blind hope). It'll get hard to find again toward the holiday season.

Last week I was at my Local Walmart, wasn't even looking for Nintendo products, in the electronics selection, when I saw they had in 4 Switches, 2 New Galaxy Blue 3DS's, and 1 New 3DS XL red.
Just try all your local stores.
ALL, of them, that could sell Nintendo.
