Shocker: Not Fixed

What a shocker. I finally got around to playing botw again with the pro controller I sent off to Nintendo to "fix" and STILL it has the same issue where if I quickly press the control stick in a direction to run, Link crouches, thus getting me hit by enemies due to his slow movement.

And, no, I did not accidentally press it vertically down.

At least they seem to have fixed the issue where it was not registering button presses quite often. I bet they did something similar to the joycon fix. But, anyway, now I may have to push them to give a replacement.
Guess who I am.

Sounds like you just don't know how to play the game properly.

Sounds more like you're just hitting the stick too hard.

If you are standing still (or even walking) nonchalantly in a direction and then an enemy shows up out of nowhere, forcing you to switch directions to run, YOU HAVE TO press it hard in another direction. If you're walking in a direction down the street and someone tries to mug you, do you just sloooooooowly change your direction to run away? Good luck with that.

People claimed all of my issues were not happening, yet now the button not registering issue seems fixed, so clearly it was a legit issue.

No you don't. You don't have to press it hard, you don't press a control stick unless you're using it as a button. You push the stick in the direction you want to go. No pressing involved.

This.

You just need to be more gentle with your electronics. Keep doing what your doing and it's likely to break.

Semantics. i said press, but meant push. Like I said, i did NOT press it down. It's just faulty and, as usual, people are wanting to say Nintendo could never make anything faulty. I have played video games for decades.... and have never broken a controller, so obviously it's not me, it's Nintendo's pro controller.

In any case you still said you need to push it "hard". When you start doing that you know you're doing it wrong.

If it's faulty, then exchange it. Grow up already.

Two things:

Does the same happen when you use the joycons?

Does the same happen when you stand still and set off into a run outside combat?

What planet are you from? How do you expect Nintendo to fix your broken controller with a patch?

It only seems to happen when I am suddenly avoiding an enemy, such as lasers being aimed at me. I haven't tried using the joycons because they feel a it odd and I didn't want the pro controller purchase to be a waste.

Never said such a thing. I said I sent it in, they sent it back saying they couldn't reproduce it (but did a "likely" fix), and it still is messing up. MANY people have had pro controller issues, so this one being different should not surprise anyone.

You do not need to push it hard to push it quickly.

You should video tape the issue and get feedback to see if its a controller issue one a user issue

Just go buy a new pro controller somewhere. Be very gentle with the box when taking the new one out. Swap the new one with the old one and then just return that s***.

You're accidentally pressing down when you go to move out of the way, even if you don't notice doing that. It still happens to me sometimes, too.

They are probably still hard to find and I think they have separate serial numbers on them. If I could find one somewhere else, I could at least try it and see if it works and then no for sure Nintendo screwed me, though.

Cant you take the controller back to the shop you bought it from and exchange it?
Thiel1989 6 hours ago#27
Since no one asked yet, TC, do you have any disabilities which may impact your play style or anything to do with your hands/fingers?

Also reproduce the issue and post a video if you can please. If not there is nothing anyone here can do other than telling you to return the controller for a refund or replacement.

Only disability I have is unrelated to anything like that.

I can't exchange where I bought it because I bought it on launch, so it's wayyyyyy past return period.

The controllers will have AT LEAST a 1 year warranty. If that controller is faulty there should be no reason why you can't take it back

Like the above poster said, use the warranty, take it back to the store.

You can't take it back to stores for a year. Nintendo is who honors a 1 year warranty. So I'd still have to send it to them. Besides, I assume stores still don't even have these.

Zanimar 8 minutes ago#32
You know that when Nintendo repairs an item and sends it back, you get a fresh new warranty so if you are still having issues then you can call them and let them know and most likely they'll just replace it with a new controller. However, with that said, from what you've said in the topic, I have to agree with the others and say that the issue isn't the controller but something on your end. The reason I agree with them is because what you are describing is something that is far to specific to be a controller issue. If it was something that happened anytime you attempted to move in a direction, that could be an issue with the contrller, but the fact that you say that it only occurs during combat and not a full time issue suggests that it's not the controller. So based on the information given, logic dictates one of three things:

1. You are simply lying and are trying to bash Nintendo for something that doesn't even exist.

2. The issue is how you are using the controller and you should evaluate how you use the controller.

3. The issue is with the game itself and you may have somehow gotten a faulty copy and need to either exchange it or get a new copy.

#3 can be figured out by simply using the Joycons the system comes with and seeing if the issue continues with them (though if #2 is the issue, then you may not know for sure as you may use the Joycons in the same manner that you do with the controller).
